Sakleshpur, Jul 30: A massive landslide has occurred at Shiradi Ghat near Doddathople in Sakleshpur, severely disrupting traffic on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway.
Due to heavy rains across the state, landslides are happening in various hilly areas. Traffic on National Highway (NH) 75 at Shiradi Ghat has been halted. Near Ettinahalli in Sakleshpur taluk, a sudden landslide has caused vehicles to queue up for kilometres.
Today, a hill collapsed onto a car, lorry, and gas tanker traveling on the Shiradi Ghat section of National Highway 75 near Doddathople in Sakleshpur taluk. However, vehicle movement in Shiradi Ghat has been suspended again due to the landslide. A roadblock has been caused by vehicles queued for hours.
Upon receiving the information, officials rushed to the spot, and operations to clear the debris have begun. Traffic is expected to be halted for about six hours. Similarly, a landslide has occurred on the Puttur-Sampaje road, and traffic has been prohibited for three hours due to the ongoing clearance operation.
