Bhopal, Nov 6: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh who has given many a sleepless night to opposition as well as to his own partymen, on Sunday November 6 claimed that he has never spoken "wrong, false or untruthful statement" in his whole life.
Wondering why his statements had time and again raked up controversies, Singh said that he had only spoken the truth at all times, and had no idea why anyone should react adversely to his statements.
He further said that the hate messages against him on social media are by those who do not know him, adding that his statements began to stir hornet's nest ever since he made the comment on police officer Hemant Karkare who died in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Singh had claimed that Karkare had spoken to him over phone a few days before the attacks and had produced phone records to support his claim.
People do not like his statements against the BJP and the RSS, he said, adding that he has only spoken the truth always.
Continuing his digs at Team Anna, he said that Anna was being fooled by those around him, particularly Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Prashant Bhushan, who, according to him, have other political motives.
Insisting that he had high respect for Anna, Singh said, "those surrounding Anna are of doubtful nature and this applies to people like Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal against whom a lot is known."
The diatribe comes two days after he called Team Anna a 'tubelight' for first opposing and now welcoming the proposal to make Lokpal a constitutional body.
On the issue of UP IPS officer DD Mishra being sent mental hospital after he threatened to expose corruption, Singh tweeted, "My total sympathy for Misra DIG UP. He is being sent to mental asylum for speaking truth...Anna team/BJP also wants me to go to mental asylum! All with skeletons in cupboard to avoid embarrassing questions respond the same way!"
On Baba Ramdev, Singh said that there was nothing wrong in calling him a businessman instead of a saint, as he had a number of firms and charged money from his Yoga disciples.
"I have never seen in my life any saint who even faintly resembles Baba Ramdev," he said.
