Bangalore, Nov 7: Lakshmi Anand, a 21-yar-old damsel from Bangalore, who nurses the ambition of becoming a super model, came out victorious at the Miss South India 2011 contest organized at Gokulam Park Inn, Kochi.
Her brilliant reply to a question on what sets the Indian women apart from their western counterparts, clinched the title for her. She said that culture defines the persona of an Indian woman, and that the Indian women are traditionally modern and that their feet are always firmly on the ground.
Lakshmi confessed that she was reserved person in the past. She admitted that she used to believe that action speaks louder than words, and that she could overcome the weakness and started feeling confident after working hard for the same. She will be competing in Miss Queen of India contest planned to be organized during March, 2012. She confessed that she is feeling very lucky at getting direct entry into this contest and vowed to give her best shot.
All the 15 contestants this year appeared to be brimming with talent and beauty and it was hard to pick the best. Lakshmi, who was nervous initially, admitted that she thought Elizabeth Thadikaran from Kerala to be the toughest competitor to face. She added that the competition between the girls was healthy, and each one of the competitors had worked hard for the contest. Lakshmi, a computer science graduate from Manipal University, has worked as model for several brands apart from being part of international projects. She had always nursed an ambition to become a part of the glitterati. “I remember Miss World pageant in which Ashwara Rai had participated. Even then I had a burning desire to pursue career in glamour. I have been closely following up the strong points of models, who have made a mark, and believe in imbibing positive points from people I meet,” she explained. She confessed that Kate Moss has been her role model
At the Miss Bangalore 2010 contest, Lakshmi was adjudged Miss Photogenic, and had finished as first runner-up. She had also annexed ‘Face of the Year Award 2010’ title.
Ajith Pegasus, organizer, said that the contestants are treated like family members and that they are happy with the grooming sessions conducted by his team. He revealed that people have begun enrolling for the next year’s pageant..
Sadly, Lakshmi’s parents were not present to share her moment of her glory. She wants to go back and share her success with parents, family, and friends. Her next goal is to win recognition as an international model, before foraying into filmdom.
The event held at Gokulam Park Inn, Kochi, was well-managed. Participation by able contenders and presence of celebrities added glitter to the occasion. The panel of judges included Miss India World, Parvathy Omanakuttan, actor, Srikant, and others.
