Udupi, Aug 1: “You are a role model for yourself,” said Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld media, during the traditional day ‘Utsav 2024’ celebrated at Vaikunta Baliga College of Law (VBCL), Kunjibettu, Udupi, in the college auditorium on August 1.
Nandalike expressed his gratitude for being honoured and said, “I always make time to spend with students.” He quoted Vikas Divyakirthi and said, “To make money after graduation, one should start a business; to build power, become a civil servant; and to be happy in life, follow your passion. I followed my passion, and even after graduating with a BCom, I am a journalist and happy.”
He advised students not to stop after completing law courses, but to attempt to become judges. “As law students, you may fail many times defending your client, but when you fail, you learn something and then guide someone. The present generation, when they fail in a few attempts, often drops out and changes fields.”
“Speak with yourself. If you do not speak to yourself, then you miss talking to great people on this earth. Compete with yourself, achieve higher, and you become a role model to others,” he said.
Shrikanth Shetty, journalist, inaugurated the event by watering rice seedlings. In his inaugural note, he spoke about India’s rich heritage and culture, saying, “For 5000 years, our country has thrived with diverse languages, cultures, and beliefs. Indian culture emphasizes harmony and respect for traditions. We must respect our culture and tradition. It is our duty to preserve our country and its cultural legacy for future generations.”
He expressed his concern over the recent Wayanad incident, saying, “This situation serves as a stark reminder of the principle that we receive what we give nature. Therefore, it is crucial that we honour and protect our environment.”
Walter Nandalike was felicitated for his notable achievements in the media field.
A prize distribution ceremony was held on the occasion.
Prof Raghunath K S, principal of VBCL, gave a presidential note. Dr Preethi, cultural coordinator, gave a report on cultural events. Namitha, a student, welcomed the gathering. U S Sukesh proposed the vote of thanks. B N Pavanraj Samaga mastered the ceremony.
