Byndoor, Aug 1: In a strategic move to boost tourism and infrastructure in Karnataka, MP B Y Raghavendra, alongside Byndoor MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, made a compelling case to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the development of the Kollur Mookambika corridor in the Udupi district of Byndoor Assembly constituency, Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. 

The Kollur Mookambika Temple, with a history of approximately 1200 years, is one of South India's renowned pilgrimage centres. Over 10,000 devotees visit the temple daily from various states across India and abroad.

The proposed Kollur Mookambika corridor includes several development plans such as enhancing basic infrastructure, cleaning the Suparnika River, establishing a Shankaracharya Theme Park, creating multi-level parking, improving connectivity via air, rail, bus, and port, installing a cable car, connecting Byndoor's historically significant temples, and developing the coastal areas and waterfalls. Additionally, it includes the development of the Panchagangavali River.

During the meeting, Byndoor MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, former administrative trustees of the Kollur Temple, Krishna Prasad Adayantaya, and Venkatesh Kini from Byndoor were present.

The Union minister responded positively to the request for the Kollur Mookambika Corridor and assured that necessary actions would be taken as soon as possible.
