Mangaluru, Aug 2: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge, Dinesh Gundurao, visited rain-affected areas in the district and instructed officials on evacuation and relief processes on Friday.

Minister Dinesh Gundurao, along with district commissioner Mullai Muhilan, visited Adyapady to inspect the flooded fields. He instructed officials to evacuate livestock and provide necessary assistance to the affected residents.

Gundurao also inspected Kattikal NH 169 with District Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, and officials from NHAI and the City Corporation. He emphasized that, "The NHAI should take responsibility, and the mud should not be taken in an unapproved manner. This location needs professional evaluation due to the lack of rainwater drainage. The city corporation and geology department have neglected this area, which witnessed a major landslide in 1992. The road construction appears unscientific, and an alternative route should be found immediately. The NHAI must submit a technical report, and immediate measures must be taken. If the problems are not resolved, actions will be taken against officials."

He further added, "In Adyapady, water has entered houses and farmlands, causing drinking water issues. We aim to resolve this immediately. A landslide report will be made as residents of Kattikal are afraid to travel due to extensive mining for the NHAI project. We have instructed the district administration to address this issue and the geology department to explain how they allow mud extraction from the site. All local panchayats have been instructed to report any calamity and collect compensation."

When asked about Siddaramaiah's involvement in the MUDA scam, Gundurao responded, "There is no permission for protests, but they are free to hold them. The central BJP government is misusing the Governor, IT, and CBI against non-BJP states. About 95% of ED and CBI cases are against opposition leaders, while those who support the BJP are given immunity. A governor should inspect and consult before making statements. Siddaramaiah's property was encroached under a 50-50 scheme introduced by the BJP government. Cases have been filed against B Y Vijayendra and Yediyurappa, yet they are holding this protest without clear reasons."

Regarding opposition leader R Ashoka's statement that disaster management funds have not been received, Gundurao said, "Nearly Rs 1,20,000 has been allocated from NDRF funds, and the state government is ensuring housing for those affected under Devaraj Urs Nigama Yojana. We will provide Rs 50,000 to those whose houses are rain-damaged, and if there are no documents, Rs 1 lakh will be given. During the previous BJP tenure, compensation of Rs 5 lakh was given even for very small houses."

Gundurao also visited the road connecting Kanchikarpete to Panemangalore, which has been completely damaged due to river overflow. He then went to Anneja, Saripadi Taluk, where residents complained about drainage overflow affecting many houses. He assured that necessary measures and funds would be arranged. Lastly, he visited the Kadeshivalaya to Jamma Masjid bridge, which has been incomplete for several years, and stated that natural fencing is needed. Completing this route will shorten the journey by 20 km.
