Tamil Nadu Sacks Public Welfare Workers

Chennai, Nov 9 (IANS): The Tamil Nadu government Tuesday ordered dismissal of around 12,000 public welfare workers across the state.

The dismissed officers were appointed by the erstwhile DMK government.

According to sources, orders have been issued to the district collectors to this effect Tuesday.

The workers generally oversee the developmental work in rural areas and earn around Rs.5,000 per month.
