Mangaluru: District in-charge minister orders halt on excavations amid landslide concerns

Mangaluru, Aug 3: District in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has instructed a temporary halt to all earth excavation activities due to the risk of landslides during the monsoon season.

In a meeting held with officials on Friday, Dinesh highlighted numerous public complaints regarding such excavations and noted incidents where labourers have lost their lives. He emphasized that excavation should not be allowed during the monsoon under any circumstances and called for strict action against violators.

Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Anand stated, “Excavation for building construction is already stopped in the city.”

The meeting was attended by deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan, police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, zilla panchayat CEO Dr Anand, and other officials.
