Bantwal, Aug 4: The fundamental principles of Vachana literature should be embedded in all writings, and such literature will truly succeed, opined Krishnamurthy Kulkarni, state director of Karnataka Chutuku Sahisthya Parishat, Hubballi. He was speaking at the inauguration of the Dakshina Kannada District Short Literature Conference held at Sparsha Hall in B C Road on Sunday, August 4, organized under the aegis of the Karnataka Chutuku Sahisthya ParishatCentral Committee, Hubballi, and the Dakshina Kannada District Committee.

"Life and writing should be in sync," Kulkarni said. "The Vachana writers have emphasized this, stating that when a writer’s actions and words are one, life gains meaning." He also mentioned that under the leadership of the Karnataka Chutuku Sahisthya Parishat, district literary conferences have been conducted, and three lakh books have been distributed over the past three years.

Presiding over the conference, writer and journalist Jayanand Peraje described the unique quality of short literature as being born and disappearing in an instant, likening it to modern folklore. He highlighted Bantwal’s significant contribution to short literature and read several short poems from various poets.

Adhiraj Jain, president of Nethravathi senior chambers, said that the literary conference held during the food festival has enhanced the festival's charm. District secretary Shanta Puttur also spoke on the occasion.

Senior short literature writer Mogarnadu Janardhan Vasudev Bhat was honoured with the Karnataka Chtuku Sahitya Ratna award at the event.

State unit officer Shekhar Gowda Patil, State unit secretary Gangayya Kulkarni, and District Chutuku Sahisthya Parishat secretary Shanta Puttur also spoke. Welcoming committee president Subhashchandra Jain welcomed the attendees. Apoorva Karanth gave the vote of thanks, and Ravindra Kukkaje and coordinator Madhura Kalladka conducted the programme.
