Bengaluru, Aug 5: In the continuing war of words between the two prominent Vokkaligas leaders of Congress and JDS, Union Industry Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar over the alleged corruption, the latter has challenged Kumaraswamy to disclose the assets and properties of his brother Balakrishna.
Speaking to media persons near his residence in Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru on Monday, Shivakumar attacked Kumaraswamy in singular terms and demanded details of the assets and properties of his own brother and offered to furnish the details of his own properties and assets.
The slugfest escalated with the KPCC Chief challenging the JDS leader about his brother’s wealth. “Let us first calculate how your own brother amassed wealth by misusing power when you (Kumaraswamy) was chief minister,” and declared: “I will give details of my properties afterwards. There is nothing hide and seek in this.”
“Kumaraswamy is asking me. In a democracy, everybody has a right to questions others in public life. Let him first give details of how his brother amassed wealth when he was in power. We have challenged them to give answers to the scams during JDS and BJP rule, which they haven’t done so far,” he said.
Taking potshots at State BJP president and former chief minister B S Yediyurappa’s son, B Y Vijayendra, the Deputy Chief Minister said: “This guy, Vijayendra, describes me as the father of corruption. But first answer how you sent your father to jail and compelled him to resign? First, explain what happened and why and give all details. You should first answer your own party’s Basavaraj Patil Yatnal and Goolihatti Shekhar and then given me answers.”
Shivakumar said the Congress party is organising its mass agitation, Janandolan Yatra in Maddur to counter BJP-JDS padyatatra.
“Karnataka is not getting its rightful share of funds from the Centre. We are also demanding answers to the scams during BJP and JDS rule and are staging Janandolalan yatra,” he said.
