Emission test certificates likely to become more expensive in Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Aug 12: Emission test certificates in Karnataka may soon become more expensive, as the Association of Owners of Karnataka Emission Testing Centres has requested a price revision from transport minister Ramalinga Reddy. The association cited rising costs, including rent, equipment, salaries, and overheads, as reasons for the proposed increase.

According to the association, the last price hike occurred three years ago. Currently, emission test certificates cost Rs 65 for two-wheelers, Rs 75 for three-wheelers, Rs 115 for four-wheeler petrol vehicles, and Rs 160 for four-wheeler diesel vehicles.

The association has urged the state government to increase the emission testing fees to Rs 110 for two-wheelers, Rs 100 for auto-rickshaws, Rs 200 for petrol and CNG four-wheelers, and Rs 250 for diesel vehicles.

Yogesh, the president of the Association of Owners of Karnataka Emission Testing Centres, said, "It has been three years since emission testing prices were last revised in Karnataka. With over 2,600 emission testing centers across the state, including 700 in Bengaluru alone, we are facing rising costs from petrol pump rent, equipment, and staff salaries. To manage these increasing expenses, we have requested transport minister Ramalinga Reddy to approve a price hike."

Keep looting the common man. Do these PUC centre fellows even maintain these machines and get them serviced? Most of them don't even have proper machines. For e.g I found two drastically different exhaust values on my car's PUC testing done from two different places on the same day in Mangalore 9-10 years ago, when these things were not centralized. One fellow told me to get the car checked at the service centre because the values were beyond permissible limits!

Modi and Nirmala sucked all the blood in this budget. Now Andhbhaats are worried, shattered from the proposal of small hike in service charges. Andhbhakths were even ready to pay rs 500 for petrol then. Now Modi regime made them so poor. Cant even think of paying petty amounts. Jai modi for making your supportes poor.
