Pressure cooker blast in Bengaluru kills 1, injures another; NIA, police investigate

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Aug 15: A tragic accident in JP Nagar, South Bengaluru, resulted in one fatality and left another person injured on Tuesday, August 14.

The explosion was caused by a pressure cooker used to prepare Khichdi (a savory rice and lentil dish), which triggered a fire from a small gas stove. The flames quickly spread, destroying household items and causing severe burns to the two barbers living in the residence.

The deceased, Sameer, and the injured, Mohsin, both originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been residing in Bengaluru for eight years. While Sameer did not survive the blast, Mohsin is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Initial fears that the explosion might be linked to explosives led to a response from both local police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This concern was heightened by a recent similar incident at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, which had injured several people.

However, it has since been confirmed that the explosion was an accident involving a pressure cooker, not an act of terrorism.

Puttenahalli Police is handling the ongoing investigation into the incident.

A poor worker died because we failed them as a society. Lofty mansions and condominiums of the "middle class". So called socialists communists and saffronists have all failed India's majority - the working class. Workers should rise and take what's theirs now. This is not to be taken lightly as pressure cooker should never cause fire. If pressure increases, the safety valves will take care, not the whole pressure cooker gets blasted into fireball
