Bengaluru, Aug 17: Girding up the wage a legal battle against the grant of sanction to prosecute him in the MUDA scam, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has termed the decision as “unconstitutional” and accused the Governor of acting as Centre’s “puppet” to pull down a duly elected government.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday after Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot granted permission to Social Activist T J Abraham to prosecute him in the alleged MUDA scam, Siddaramaiah said BJP and JD(S) and some opposition leaders in the State have hatched a “conspiracy” to topple the Congress government as the governments in Uttarakhand, Jarkhand and Delhi were sought to be destablilised.

“Prima facie there is no irregularity or cause for launching prosecution against me. We will challenge the Governor’s decision legally,” he declared.

The chief minister asserted that “there is no question of tendering resignation” and charged the Governor of issuing the show cause notice on the same day the complaint was received.

"All the Congress legislators, Cabinet Ministers and party’s national leaders are solidly behind me.”
This is a political conspiracy. The Governor is the Centre's puppet. BJP has no moral right to demand my resignation,” he declared.

Siddaramaiah said the BJP leaders were jealous of the success of the ruling Congress party and the implementation of the pre-poll promises of guarantees, which have been widely welcomed and appreciated by the people. The BJP-led Centre is against social justice and guarantees aimed at solving the problems of the people.

He also accused the JD(S), which has joined hands with BJP for Lok Sabha polls, of colluding with BJP. “The Governor has not acted on the complaints against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, BJP ministers Murugesh Nirani, Shashikala Jolle and also the mining baron Janardhana Reddy for more than a year,” Siddaramaiah said.

He pointed out that even the Lokayukta had sought permission to investigate the illegal mining permissions granted by Kumaraswamy in November. “No action has been taken by the Governor,” he said.

Looks as if the stage is set for DKS's ascendency to the throne. Whatever happens to the Governor's sanction to prosecute Siddhamaiah, the internal infighting in the ruling patry is only going to escalate.

Let CM fight legally with his own money, why he is using public money to defend his private corruption charge? Using govt facilities to defend here is also a misappropriation of power.
