Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS) Udupi, Aug 18: The Canara Bus Owners’ Association has decided to stage a major protest against what they claim are excessive toll charges at the Hejmady and Sastan toll gates. This decision was made during a meeting held at the Town Hall on Saturday, August 17. The association alleges that, in addition to the normal toll charges for buses, the toll gate authorities are also deducting heavy vehicle toll charges from their accounts. They assert that this practice has been ongoing for some time. Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, president of the association, said, “An appeal will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner and the Member of Parliament on Monday. If the issue is not resolved within a day or two, buses passing through Hejmady and Sastan toll gates will be parked across the highways on August 23. If this causes inconvenience to the public, the toll gate authority will be held responsible.”
