Mangaluru: Man falls victim to online scam, loses Rs 34.5 lac in share market enticement

Mangaluru, Aug 18: A man has been defrauded of Rs 34.5 lac by online scammers who promised substantial returns on share market investments.

The victim discovered a link on Instagram on July 1 and downloaded the associated application. Shortly after, he was contacted by individuals through a chat box who persuaded him to invest in the share market, claiming he would receive significant profits.

From July 1 to August 12, the victim invested a total of Rs 34.5 lac through various transactions. When he later attempted to withdraw his funds, the scammers demanded a 20% tax.

Despite the victim's repeated efforts to recover his investment, he was unsuccessful and has now filed a complaint with the cyber police.
