Udupi, Aug 18: Gabriel Fabian Nazareth (80), the founder of Shirva Shri Siddhivinayaka temple, passed away on Sunday, August 18 at a private hospital in Udupi. He was unmarried.

The funeral rites will be held on August 19 at 3:00 PM at Shirva Health Mother Church. The public can pay their last respects from 11 AM at his residence near the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple.

Gabriel Nazreth was well known in the community of Shirva for his noble gesture of constructing a Siddhivinayak Temple in his own land at his own cost.

Moreover, over the years, Nazareth had spent several lacs of his own money sponsoring the marriage of his relatives. Nazareth was a devotee of Lord Siddivinayaka and when working in Mumbai, he had immense devotion to God. It is for this reason, that Nazareth had constructed a Siddavinayaka temple on his ancestral property in Shirva at the cost of Rs 2 crore. The installation of the idol in the temple was held on May 4, 2021. Several people had lauded Nazareth's initiative. After the installation of the idol, the temple was handed over to his friends.
