Returning from party Bengaluru woman assaulted, raped by auto driver

Bengaluru, Aug 18 (IANS): In a shocking case, a young woman, who was travelling in an auto-rickshaw after returning from a party, was allegedly raped by the driver, said officials on Sunday.

The incident was reported from the HSR police station limits in Bengaluru. According to police, the incident took place when the victim was returning home after partying in a pub in the Koramangala locality on her scooter at midnight.

Sara Fathima, DCP (South East) stated that a "sexual assault case was registered at the HSR Layout police station. The victim examination is getting done. The case was registered early morning. I have spoken to her."

Commenting on the development, Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that the incident of an attempt to rape a young woman has been reported from Bengaluru. The medical tests are being conducted on the woman. The police are investigating as per the procedure, he added.

Police sources stated that while travelling she had an accident and fell from the vehicle. Leaving behind her vehicle, she had boarded an auto to reach home. While travelling, the auto driver noticed that the young woman was not in her complete senses. The auto driver then took her to a godown near Bommanahalli and committed the crime. The victim is presently admitted to a private hospital and being treated in the ICU.

After the incident, the victim called her female friend, shared the information about the incident and sought help. Her friend rushed to the spot and found her in a semi-conscious state. She shifted her to the hospital.

The doctors informed the friend of the victim that her friend was raped. Immediately, information was given to the Hebbagodi police station. Later, the case was handed over to the HSR Layout police as the vehicle of the victim was found in its jurisdiction.

More details are yet to emerge regarding the incident. The police did not confirm the reports that the victim was the daughter of an Army officer and maintained that they were verifying the facts of the case and would make an official statement once they gathered all the facts.

The police also stated that they are verifying the vital facts and statements by the victim in the case as she is changing her versions of the incident.

The police have ruled out the possibility of gang-rape in the case. HSR Layout police are investigating the case.

Senior police officials visited the victim at the hospital and also provided security at the hospital.

why is the blame always placed on girls or women ? girls' and boys are equal and girls have equal rights too, why should boys constantly monitor where girls go and what they do ? parents are there to take care of them, we celebrate independence day and give speeches for hours, yet where is the independence for girls/ women ? don't they have mother wives or sisters ? i m addressing this question to those with a narrow minded mentality, not everyone, the lack of proper laws in India is why such things happen

Ban Alcohol. Just try as a trial. It will reduce domestic and sexual violence dramatically. Individuals under the influence of alcohol are more likely to commit such offenses.

Self-invited troubles indeed. Single lady partying in the pub till late night and returning riding a scooter in intoxicated condition. Police need to question and if required must file a chargesheet for her immoral code of conduct.

I was on vacation last full month but had hardly visited any Bar & Restaurant. Home sweet home and soothing and relaxation ! Ladies enjoying in the bar till late night and takin a risk of riding sooty in intoxicated state is means inviting problems. Any, self-respecting and obeying parents' guidance would not take such nonsense way of taking advantage. Police should book chargesheet against her for considering her careless behaviour.

There are different versions in different news reports, as well as her own statements, was it a auto driver or a biker? Was she intoxicated at the "midnight "party? Why did she not call her guardian (owner of PG ) or the police? There are many unanswered questions.

As per other version circulated in the news network , she had her drinks in a pub till 1.00AM and drove her Volkswagen car which met with an accident and one biker gave her lift and also raped her in a secluded spot. Whatever the version I totally blame the irresponsible girl for her part in this incident.

We know that as per Statistics every 4 min one women Raped in India. Among them most of them are minores and murdered after Rape. But still no strict LAW for Rape . There is not even a single case happens in Gulf country due to their strickt LAW Due to corruption, involvement of Political leaders our women's and girls are not getting justice. Death Punishment Is the only Solution. Else a day will come even girls cannot go to school, women cannot step out. Sure a day will Come.

Death punishment might be simple and easy for the rapist, it must be castration as done in China in some cases.
