Mangaluru, Aug 18: The title announcement of the highly anticipated Tulu film starring Rockstar Roopesh Shetty took place on Sunday, August 18, at City Center Mall, Mangaluru.
Speaking at the event, U T Khader, speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, congratulated the team, saying, “I commend the entire team for creating a film based on politics. It is heartening to see people in Dubai and Mumbai learning Tulu and watching our films. Roopesh Shetty, a talent from our Tulunadu, has earned recognition statewide and continues to bring pride to our district. This film should reach audiences beyond our region, as it has a compelling story.”
MP of Dakshina Kannada, Capt Brijesh Chowta, expressed his joy that the movie is in the Tulu language and encouraged continued support for Tulu films. He wished the entire crew success with the film.
Vedavyas Kamath, MLA of Mangaluru South, praised the initiative, urging everyone to support and watch Tulu films. He emphasized the talent of the team and the benefits of new resolutions for those working behind the scenes.
Roopesh Shetty, the lead actor and director, shared that the movie is still in production, with shoots completed in Kasargod, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada. He highlighted the involvement of well-known Tulu film actors like Devadas Kapikad and Aravind Bolar, along with opportunities given to newcomers. Shetty noted that this film differs from typical Tulu comedies, aiming to explore new themes.
The event was inaugurated by Devadas Kapikad, Prakash Pandeshwar, Jagannath Shetty, Pammi Kodialbail, Premnath Shetty, Taranath Shetty Bolar, Manoj, Laxman Kumar, and others.
Produced under the banner of R S Cinemas, Shoolin Films, and Mugrody Productions, 'Jai' comes from the same team that created popular Tulu films like Girgit, Circus, and Gamzal. Directed by Roopesh Shetty Bailur, with story and dialogue by Prasanna Shetty, music by Loy Valentine Saldana, cinematography by Vinuth K, and video editing by Rahul Vasisth.
