Bantwal: Kesar Donji Dina-2024 organized by 'Kolakeerda Tudar' in Kalladka

Bantwal, Aug 19: The “Kesar Donji Dina-2024” event, organized by “Kolakeerda Tudar” in Kalladka, Golthamajalu village, Bantwal taluk, took place in the Kolakeer Baylu Adikola paddy fields.

The event was inaugurated by Ramesh Prabhu, who symbolically lit a lamp and emphasized, "In the past, mud was an integral part of our lives. Events like this help remind the present generation of that connection."

 

Shivaprasad Kottari, president of Kolakeerda Tudar, presided over the event. District Rajyotsava Award recipient and Daiva Nartaka, Lokayya Sera, delivered the keynote address, stating that mud field sports events play a crucial role in preserving traditional culture. He also highlighted the importance of educating the younger generation about the strength and significance of mud.

During the event, district Rajyotsava Award recipient and Daiva Nartaka Shekhar Pambada Sajeep was honored.

Several local dignitaries were also recognized, including 103-year-old Kamala Guruswami, who has been making the Sabarimala pilgrimage for 43 consecutive years, renowned Daiva Nartaka Rukmaya Nalike, electric line worker Vasanth, pump operator Koragappa Kottari, Daiva Chakradhari Puvappa Madiwala, and achiever Srinidhi Bhat.

The event saw participation from former MLAs Rukmaya Poojari and Padmanabha Kottari, Golthamajalu Gram Panchayat president Prema, Bandara Mane Vishwanath Alva, Dr Prashant Kolakeer, Shambur Bondal High School principal Kamalaksha Kottari, Kalladka Sharda Seva Pratishthana president Yateen Kumar, retired bank manager Narayana Naik, former gram panchayat member Narasimha Madiwala, gram panchayat members Likhit R Shetty, Leelavathi, Jansirani Mahila Mandal president Meenakshi R Poojari, among others.

Following the formal program, offerings of fruits and flowers were made in the fields. Various sports competitions were held in the mud for children, women, and men, with prizes awarded to the winners.

Navya Prashanth welcomed the gathering, Nidhi Prithviraj Alva delivered the vote of thanks, and Rajesh Kottari hosted the event.
