Kasargod: 21-year-old electrocuted while retrieving fallen branch

Kasargod, Aug 20: A youth was electrocuted on Monday evening at Manjeshwara Hosabettu.

The deceased, Yashwant (21), a local resident, went to the terrace of his house to retrieve a fallen coconut tree branch. While doing so, he accidentally touched a high-tension wire passing near the tree and collapsed. When he did not return for a long time, his sister went to the terrace and found him lying unconscious.

Despite being rushed to the hospital by locals, Yashwant was declared dead. His mortal remains have been kept at Mangalpady Government Hospital for post-mortem. The Manjeshwar police are investigating the incident further.

Yashwant had been working at a petrol pump near Uppala school for the past two years. He was preparing to go to work in the evening when he went to fetch the fallen coconut tree branch.
