Udupi: Accused arrested in Kadabettu home burglary case

Udupi, Aug 26: Police have arrested an accused in connection with a recent burglary at a house in Kadabettu. The accused, identified as Arif Munna Mohammed Arif, a resident of Mangaluru, was taken into custody.

Arif is alleged to have burglarized the home of T Prashant Pai, located in Jeevana Nagara of Kadabettu Ramanna Shetty Colony. The main door of the house was broken, and seven gold coins featuring Goddess Laxmi, which were kept on a photo of God inside the house, were stolen. The stolen items are valued at Rs 35,000.

A special police team apprehended Arif near Rajangana of Krishna Math, along with a motorcycle. The police confiscated 5.400 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 35,964 from the suspect, as well as a Hero Honda Splendor Plus bike and iron rods believed to have been used in the burglary.

The accused has over 15 cases registered against him in various police stations across Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi districts.

The operation was conducted by a team led by city police station inspector Sridhar V Satare, along with SI Punit Kumar, Eranna Shiragumpi, Bharatesh Kankanwadi, Suresh Mendon, Harish Mala, Anand S, Hemant Kumar M R, Shivakumar, Dinesh, and Nitin Kumar.
