Mangaluru, Aug 25: The second round of the 60th edition of the Konkani Natak Sabha's (KNS) singing competition was held on Sunday, August 25, from 9:30 am onwards at Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru, as part of the annual competitions.
The event began with a prayer and the KNS Anthem. Liston Derrick D'Souza, vice president of KNS, extended a warm welcome to the guests, participants, and attendees.
The competition was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Mogachi Lahran fame Vincent Fernandes Cascia, along with Liston D'Souza, KNS vice president; Floyd D'Mello, general secretary of KNS; Cletus Lobo, assistant secretary of KNS; Gerald Concessao, treasurer of KNS; Loy Rego, and Gladys Pereira, singing competition convenors, accompanied by KNS president Rev Dr Rocky D'Cunha and the competition judges.
Event chief guest Vincent Fernandes Cascia sang his popular hit song "Lilly" and encouraged the participants.
Renowned musicians and singers Ivan Sequeira, Jude Fernandes, Sylvia Bennis, and Rony Dcunha from Kuwait served as the esteemed judges for the competition.
A total of 125 entries from 12 different categories, with over 220 participants from various age groups ranging from below 10 years, 10 to 15 years, and above 15 years, showcased their talents in solo, duet, mixed group, and married couple categories.
The competition received valuable support from KNS managing committee members and assistance from KNS Bendur, Angelore, Urwa, Bejai, Milagres, and Cathedral unit members.
Former KNS vice president Sunil Menezes assisted in the tabulation of marks. Gladys Pereira introduced the judges, Liston D’Souza announced the results, and Loy Rego concluded with a vote of thanks.
