Bengaluru, Aug 26: BJP opposition leader in Assembly R Ashoka has challenged the ruling Congress party to name the BJP leaders who offered money to legislators engineer defections as the BJP is not interested in toppling the government.
“If the Congress party does not name the persons, who offered money to the Congress leaders to defect to BJP, otherwise it will be hit and run,” he said addressing the media in Bengaluru on Monday, August 26.
The BJP leader said the Congress government is steeped in the MUDA and Valmiki scams. The days of the government are numbered and therefore, the Congress leaders are levelling false allegations to divert public attention, he said.
Instead of BJP toppling the government, it is the Congress leaders themselves who want the government to fall, he said and alleged that the Congress leaders are busy looting the funds as they know the Congress party will not come to power again.
Ashoka alleged that the government is bankrupt due to its guarantees and has been striving hard to mobilise resources. After petrol and diesel rates, the government is set to increase the tariff of water and bus fares, he said.
The BJP leader indicated that the BJP-JDS leaders are considering steps to pursue legal cases against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Ashoka urged the government to come out with facts on how murder accused Kannada film actor Darshan was allowed to drink, smoke and use mobile phones in the jail and demanded a complete probe.
It is shameful that Love Jihad cases and rapes and murders are on the rise in the State, which indicates complete failure of the law and order situation in the State, he added.
