Sullia, Aug 27: A bike rider was killed while attempting to overtake a private bus at Noojibalthila in Kadaba taluk on Monday August 26.

Devaraj (22), son of Gutyappa and a resident of Haranahalli village in Shivamogga district, is the deceased. He was returning to Subramanya after completing a pilgrimage at Dharmasthala. Upon reaching Noojibalthila near Bethany College, Devaraj attempted to overtake a private bus ahead of him. He suddenly braked when he saw an oncoming Innova car, causing his bike to skid. He died on the way to Puttur hospital.

The Innova car also fell into a drain while trying to avoid colliding with the bike. However, the occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries, though the car was badly damaged. Kadaba station inspector Abhinandan and personnel visited the spot.
