Udupi: Cow thief absconding for 31 years arrested

Udupi, Aug 27: Manipal police have arrested a man who had been absconding for 31 years after failing to appear in court in a case related to cow theft.

The accused, Syed Mustaq, a resident of Katapadi, was apprehended by the police on August 24 at Manipura Gujjihouse.

A case was registered at the Manipal police station on July 21, 1993, regarding the theft of two cows that had been left grazing near the Indrali temple. The complaint was filed by Devendra Naika.

Syed was initially arrested, and a chargesheet was submitted to the court. However, he absconded after securing bail. The police team, led by Manipal police inspector Devaraja T V, was involved in the operation to track and arrest the accused.
