Udupi: Theft accused arrested, stolen equipment recovered

Udupi, Aug 27: Police have arrested Yallappa Mallappa Bovi (37), a native of Bagalkot district, in connection with a theft that occurred at Karavali Bypass.

Yallappa Bovi was employed as a driver for the Easy Life agricultural equipment marketing company, located near Karavali Bypass. On August 4, Yallappa transported various equipment from the company's branch in Theerthahalli using a Bajaj tempo and parked the vehicle near the showroom at Karavali Bypass. On the morning of August 5, when Shreyas, another employee of Easy Life, began unloading the goods, he discovered that 12 pieces of equipment were missing. The stolen items were valued at Rs six lakh. A case was filed at the city police station.

Udupi police station PSI Eranna Shiragumpi, along with personnel Ananda and Shivakumar, recovered the stolen equipment, worth Rs six lakh, which had been hidden near the APMC godowns in Adi Udupi by the accused. The accused was produced in court and has been sent to Hiriyadka district prison.
