Mangaluru: BJP stages protest against Cong leaders for 'anti-national statements, systemic failures'

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 28: The BJP’s Mangaluru South Mandal Youth Morcha organised a large-scale protest, including a roadblock near PVS Circle, to condemn the "lack of action" against Congress members who allegedly made anti-national statements about the state governor. Despite filing a complaint, no action was taken, the BJP protestors argued alleging systemic failures.

During the protest, MLA Vedavyas Kamath criticised the state government for using the police department to intimidate and suppress their demonstrations.

He stated, “The government’s attempts to intimidate us with threats will not succeed. We will ensure that Congress leaders who make anti-national statements, such as Ivan D'Souza, are brought to justice in court. If political pressure has caused any lapses in the investigation, this government will not protect the police. Hence, we urge the police to act in the interest of justice. Do not be misled by this corrupt and dishonest government and neglect your duties.”

Following the protest, police detained several BJP workers, including the MLA and MP, and took them into custody.

Present at the protest were MP Capt Brijesh Chouta, Youth Morcha district president Nandan Mallya, Mandal president Ramesh Kandeettu, Youth Morcha Mandal president Ashwith Kottari, and several prominent BJP leaders and members.
