Puttur: Inter-district thief arrested for stealing iron sheets from NH work site

Puttur, Aug 29: Uppinangady police arrested an inter-district thief on August 27.

The accused is identified as Abdul Hamid (27), a resident of Karyathadka in Aithur village of Kadaba taluk. He was taken into custody in connection with the theft of iron sheets belonging to KNR Company, which is contracted for four-lane highway work and had stocked the sheets at Neerakatte in Bajathur village.

During interrogation, the accused also confessed to committing theft at Periyashanti in Kaukradi village. In addition, Abdul Hamid has cases under the NDPS Act at Mangaluru Kankanady police station, a theft case at Mangaluru North police station, an abetment to suicide case at Gangolli, a looting case at Davanagere RMC Yard, a suspected involvement case and a common theft case at Sakleshpur city, a common theft case at Kadaba, a dacoity case at Bengaluru Kotnaloor, and dacoity cases at Gonibeedu and Beltangady police station. Police informed that all these cases are under investigation, and a warrant has been issued for the accused.

The operation was guided by Puttur rural CI Ravi B S, Uppinangady station SI Rukma Naika, HC Hitosh, and personnel Hemaraj, Girish Rai, Shivaraj Takkalike, and Raju Naika were involved in the operation.
