Mangaluru, Aug 31: Chaos erupted during the general body meeting of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) as opposition party members expressed their anger by throwing microphones.

BJP member Sangeeta Nayak accused Congress workers of pelting stones at a bus owned by a member of the minority community during a recent protest against the governor's decision to allow prosecution of chief minister Siddaramaiah over the MUDA case. She also mentioned that a woman was injured in the incident.

Shakeela Kava, another BJP member, demanded the removal of a nominated member, who was involved in the stone-pelting incident and has since been released on bail, from the house.

The opposition members protested by entering the well of the house, accusing the mayor of not allowing opposition leaders to speak on the issue. BJP members raised slogans against the Congress.

Opposition leader Praveen Chandra Alva criticized the mayor for not allowing him to speak after presenting the minutes of the previous meeting, calling it unfair.

When opposition members requested microphones, one that failed to work was slammed onto the floor, breaking it. The situation further escalated, with ruling party members accusing the Congress of engaging in hooliganism. The mayor then abruptly ended the meeting and walked out.
