Udupi, Sep 1: The foundation stone for a new, state-of-the-art building dedicated to the research training of government officials and a sports institute was recently laid near Nairkere in Ajjarkad. This significant development aims to enhance the training infrastructure and provide advanced facilities for district government officers.
Dr Ranjan R Pai, the chairman of MAHE Trust and MEMG Group, conducted the foundation stone laying ceremony. The project, fully funded by MAHE University will see an investment of Rs 2 crores for the construction of the well-equipped facility. The new building, covering an area of approximately 18,000 square feet, will be constructed through a competitive tender process as announced by H S Ballal, co-chancellor of MAHE University.
The initiative follows a request made by the district collector to MAHE University for establishing a dedicated space for the research training of government officials and the development of a sports institute. Dr Ranjan R Pai responded positively to this request, affirming the commitment of Manipal University to support this essential project.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was presided over by MLA Yashpal Suvarna. The event witnessed the presence of proprietor of G Shankar Family Trust, G Shankar; president of Prasad Nethralaya, Krishnaprasad Kudlu; district collector Dr K Vidyakumari; zilla panchayat CEO Prateek Bayal; deputy collector Mamata Devi G S; Coast Guard SP Mithun Kumar; ADYS secretary Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty; municipal commissioner Rayappa; and local businessmen Nagesh Hegde, Manohar Shetty, and Purushottama Shetty.
The new facility is anticipated to significantly boost the capabilities of government officials through enhanced training programs and provide a state-of-the-art sports institute to foster athletic development in the district. The project marks a pivotal step in improving local infrastructure and services for government employees and the community at large.
