Puttur: Five injured in ambulance-container collision

Puttur, Sep 3: Five people, including a child, were injured when an ambulance transporting the child to a Mangaluru hospital for higher treatment collided with a container truck at Kumbra on the Mani-Mysuru State Highway on Monday evening.

The accident occurred near Kumbra Markazal Huda Women's College. The ambulance, driven by Jayaprakash, was carrying five people along with the child, who was being taken to Mangaluru for advanced medical care. The container truck was traveling from Puttur to Madikeri.

The injured were taken to the hospital in another ambulance. It is reported that the container truck driver crashed into the ambulance while attempting to overtake a JCB. Both vehicles were damaged, and traffic on the busy state highway was disrupted for some time. Sampya police rushed to the scene and cleared the traffic.
