Udupi: Medical student accused of forcing classmate to convert, complaint filed

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Sep 3: A postgraduate medical student in Manipal has been accused of harassment and coercion to convert by his female classmate, leading to his arrest.

The students involved are from Delhi and Rajasthan and were reportedly in a relationship. The accused, identified as Mohammad Danish Khan (27), was arrested by the police following the allegations.

According to the complaint filed at the Udupi women’s police station on August 31, Danish proposed marriage to the victim but allegedly insisted that she convert to Islam as a condition for the marriage. The victim claims that during a conversation on January 22, 2024, Danish made derogatory remarks about Hinduism and the Ram Mandir.

The complaint further alleges that on March 11, 2024, when the victim visited Danish's room, he pressured her to convert. Upon her refusal, he allegedly slapped her, pulled her hair, and physically assaulted her. The victim also accused Danish of making inappropriate sexual advances, stating that he touched her private parts and made sexual demands.

The victim reported that Danish continued to harass her over the phone until August 28, 2024.

Following the complaint, the police arrested Mohammad Danish Khan, who has since been placed under judicial custody by the court.

Religion is opium to society. Fanatic mindset is deadly killing virus, which has no medicine. Those who do not know how to respect others and enforce their belief are not fit to marry.

Both these students are post graduate medical students. It is hard to believe that they did not knew the difficulties of this mixed marriage as both were of different religions. They were certainly aware of the post marriage difficulties and the issue of religion. Therefore it looks fishy accusing one by another of forceful conversion. This issue should have been discussed by both of them in the first stage itself. There should be something more than that meets the eye which need to be investigated by the agencies.

@ Thyampa, Uniform civil code will solve the problem means all are brahmins and no caste systems and no faith or religion only one. Which one is out of these Dharma, Faith, Religion, Buddhism, Sikh, or Jain.

There was an anti conversion law passed by the previous government to curb the illegal conversions by fanatics who involve in forceful, deceitful and propaganda driven religious conversions. That law was scrapped by the present government stating it's against the social harmony. If that law was active, then this fanatic and people like him would be in jail. Sadly we don't get these kind of laws anymore.

Not only Hindus are worried, even there are systematic targeting of Christians girls in Kerala which the church priests were openly condemned years ago. These things will only break communal harmony which is to be rare these days. No parents want their kids to be brainwashed by some ideologies which layer the victims cannot easily get out...

First of all it’s a wrong choice then once the man has made his intentions clear then again why go to his room??????…. This is the stupidity wrong perception in girls that things can change, it doesn’t change a thing rather it becomes worse, if not now after marriage. Now sit and cry, police complaint this and that putting yourself in spot and making your own life miserable.

Should we believe this? Something is wrong here from the side of victim.. She visited Danish s room .There he slapped her after proposal and asking to convert. And advanced sexual demands. She knew he is a Muslim and should have cleared her intentions first time self .All this happened in January 2024.Now it is coming out? And complaining. One can't arrest a person because of derogatory comments but assault and forcing to convert. She should tell the truth exactly what happened.

Why the victim kept quiet for so long. First of its Hindu Muslim relation (which is falling under community objections & legal lawsuit. I feel it's a story of sour grapes. Medical students involving illegitimate relation for momentary physical needs and once expected dream is realized then starts fake, blame game. Let us watch another fake claim story. 😆
