Mangaluru: St Joseph the Worker Church, celebrates Konkani Manyatha Divas

Mangaluru, Sep 7: St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga, celebrated Konkani Manyatha Divas on Sunday, August 18, at the St Joseph English Medium School auditorium. The event began with a prayer dance.

The following dignitaries graced the occasion: parish priest Fr Paul Pinto, who presided over the function; parish pastoral council vice president Sandeep Misquith; secretary Usha Fernandes; St Joseph English Medium School manager Sr Sujatha; Carmel Ashram superior Sr Mavis; and all wards coordinator Shabitha Saldanha.

Chief guest Joseph Mathais, in his inaugural address, paid tribute to those who had contributed to making Konkani a national language. He congratulated the parish priest and PPC office bearers for organizing this event and expressed his hope for many more such programmes in the future.

PPC vice president Sandeep Misquith welcomed the gathering, and secretary Usha Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks. All enjoyed the pathlolis, a homemade delicacy prepared by the 16 ward members. The event featured various cultural performances, including Konkani songs and skits. Shireen D’Cunha compered the programme.
