Mangaluru: DC Mullai Muhilan honours girl for rescuing mother in auto-rickshaw accident

Mangaluru, Sep 11: In a heroic act, a young girl named Vaibhavi saved her mother after an auto-rickshaw hit her while crossing the road in Kinnigoli. The girl rushed to her mother's aid and pulled her to safety. In recognition of her bravery, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada, Mullai Muhilan  invited Vaibhavi to his office on Tuesday and honoured her.

Vaibhavi, a 7th-grade student, was felicitated by the DC with a shawl and a garland. He praised her for her quick thinking and courage, describing her actions as exemplary. He emphasized that such awareness and bravery should be instilled in children from a young age.

The event was attended by additional DC Dr G Santosh Kumar, deputy director of social welfare Hemalatha, assistant director Suresh Adiga, and Vaibhavi's parents. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah also appreciated Vaibhavi’s bravery on social media. It was reported that the mother, who was injured in the accident, is receiving treatment at Suratkal hospital.

    Girls with right training and guidance and education are capable of exercising their skills in PAR with boys/men. In the present World ladies are equally representing what men could do. Sometimes they are bold and practical comparing men.

    In addition to honouring better reccommend Govt. to meet medical expences the accident victim her mother. I surprised to see this girl came all of a sudden and tried to lift the rikshaw to save her mother. Great indeed.
