Mumbai: Karnataka Vishwakarma Association celebrates annual Mahotsava

Mumbai, Sep 17: The Karnataka Vishwakarma Association (R) Mumbai organized the annual Vishwakarma Mahotsava on Monday at the Sri Swami Narayan Mandir auditorium in Malad East. The event was marked by traditional rituals, prayers, and cultural programs.

Speaking at the event, Ravish G Acharya, president of the Karnataka Vishwakarma Association, highlighted that the Vishwakarmas are naturally gifted individuals, especially in technical skills, and that today's youth are actively responding to globalization. He emphasized that by encouraging children, more talents will emerge and strengthen the community.

The day began with religious activities, including the Vishwakarma Homa at sunrise, followed by the Kalash installation and Bhajana Mahotsava. The festivities continued with a community feast at noon, and the event concluded with a grand Mahamangalarathi at sunset. Brahmashree Shankarnath Acharya led the rituals and blessed the devotees.

A beautiful and elaborate mandap, designed by Ashok Kodyadka, housed the deity, and the yajman of the pooja were Reena Bhaskar Acharya and her husband. Gopalakrishna Acharya, Prasanna Acharya, Prashanth Acharya, Chetan Acharya, and Santosh Acharya assisted in the religious ceremonies.

The Bhajana Mahotsava saw participation from various groups, including the Vishwakarma Mahila Balaga from Dombivli, Sri Lalithamba Bhajana Mandali from Borivali, and the Vishwakarma Kalikamba Bhajanavrunda from Goregaon. In the afternoon, a musical program by Kala Saurabh Mumbai, led by Padmanabha Sasihithlu, and cultural performances by association members and children added to the festive spirit.

The evening program featured speeches and honours. Ravish Acharya, vice president Ganesh Kumar, treasurer Baburaj M Acharya, women’s wing president Sujatha G Acharya, and youth wing president Sandesh J Acharya were present on stage along with former president Janardhana Acharya and Prafulla Acharya. Sujatha G Acharya emphasized the need to instill values in children through cultural programmes like Bhajans.

Association members and prominent community leaders such as Prasad Acharya, Sharath Kumar G Acharya, and Ravindra I P Acharya, along with other officials and trustees, distributed awards and scholarships to meritorious children. The event also recognized and honoured distinguished individuals within the community.

Ganesh Kumar delivered the opening address, while Ravish Acharya honoured the guests with floral tributes. Prasad Acharya welcomed everyone, and Harish G Acharya read the list of awardees. The day-long event witnessed a large gathering of members and devotees, who offered prayers and received blessings from Lord Vishwakarma and Goddess Kalikamba.
