Bantwal, Sep 17: “The realm of world craftsmen's knowledge is boundless. The artworks emerging from their skills are a testament to this,” said Bantwal assistant tahsildar Naveen Benjanapadavu.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the Vishwakarma Jayanthi celebrations (World Craftsmen's Day) organised by the Bantwal Taluk Administration at the B C Road administrative building on Tuesday.

Sudhakar Acharya, president of the World Craftsmen's Social Service Association, inaugurated the event with a lamp-lighting ceremony and remarked, “It is gratifying that both the central and state governments are placing increasing emphasis on the welfare of world craftsmen.”

Journalist Mounesh noted, “If India’s fame shines globally, the artistic richness of the world craftsmen community is a significant reason. They are labourers, and it is essential that the government and organisations ensure they do not miss out on governmental benefits.”

Manoj Acharya, honorary president of the World Craftsmen's Social Service Association, suggested, “Future World Craftsmen's Day celebrations should be conducted on a grand scale with greater public participation to make them more meaningful.”

During the event, emerging sculptor Prashanth Acharya was honoured. Youth leader Yuvraj Acharya from the Anagundi Maha Sansthan's Guru Seva Parishat Bantwal chapter, and association officials including secretary Sandeep B Acharya, Sunil Acharya, Jayaprakash Acharya, Jayachandra Acharya, Ashok Acharya, assistant tahsildar Narendra, and Rajesh were present.
