Mangaluru, Sep 17: In a tragic road accident, Lavanya (27), who was riding pillion on a scooter, was killed instantly after a collision with a container truck on Kuloor Bridge.

The incident took place around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Shakil Suvarna, the victim's husband, was riding the scooter (KA 19 EL 1215) with Lavanya seated behind him as they were heading from Panambur towards Kavoor.

As they reached Kuloor Bridge, a container truck (KA 19 AE 0788) coming from the Panambur side, recklessly and negligently swerved to the left without any indication, crashing into their scooter from the right.

The impact caused both Shakil and Lavanya to fall onto the road. Tragically, Lavanya was run over by the truck's rear left wheel, causing fatal head injuries.

She died on the spot, while Shakil sustained minor injuries. Local authorities have registered a case and are investigating the accident.

Yet again reckless and rash driving and another precious young life gone in a fraction of a second. May Lavanya rest in peace we ray & that her husband Shakil Suvarna may recover soon. Unless our traffic department & concerned authorities take stringent action against these erring drivers, cancel their Driving License for a year or so, nothing will change. Innocent people will continue to be victims of road accidents & these negligent drivers will continue their menace on the roads.

Indians and its politicians boast about being Super power , 3rd biggest economy etc etc .. Same time people are victims of corruption, you are unable to impose strict traffic rules , people die because of bad roads , issuing licence to truck drivers without any knowledge of traffic rules … When can a common Indian expect something good ?? When will people start using indicators before taking turns ?? When will our trucks drive on the left side of the road ??? Is this the reason many educated and wealthy citizens are always looking for opportunities to leave India ?? May the soul of deceased two wheeler driver rest in peace .

RIP Lavanya. We can't blame truck drivers always. Sometimes 2 wheelers overtake from left side. Truck drivers cannot see a blind spot. In this case I don't know what is really happened. There should be strict law. But when government wants to bring strict law truck owners and drivers protested against it. These laws for the safety of society. Government must introduce the law to install dash cam on each and every vehicle. So police will get to know who is guilty and who is not with proof

This Woman was Wearing white construction helmet it’s still on the roadside Please don’t risk your life wearing useless helmets for a few hundred rupees And please make laws to cancel drivers driving license immediately. People who take lives by negligent driving should look for alternate profession but NEVER be allowed to drive in this lifetime. Requesting our MP to take up this cause.

“There should be separate laws for truck, lorry, and container vehicle drivers because they lack control while driving, and poor people will continue to die like this. May Lavanya’s soul rest in peace.”
