Kundapur, Sep 19: A young man who had completed his MBBS and was preparing for the MS examination tragically took his own life by jumping into the Kotilingeshwara pond in Koteshwara on Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Gaureesh Ganiga (28), son of Narayana, was a resident near Hangalur panchayat.
Gaureesh, known for his simple nature, was practicing at Kundapur government hospital after completing his MBBS. He had reportedly taken the MS entrance exam and had been showing signs of depression for several days.
On Wednesday evening, Gaureesh went missing from home. Despite local efforts to find him, he could not be located. It was only when his family went to the police station to file a missing person report that his mobile phone's location was traced near the Koteshwara pond. Upon reaching the pond, his family and locals found his bike parked near the temple, with his mobile phone and footwear placed near the pond's edge. Due to the late hour, no search was conducted at the pond. However, on Thursday morning, his body was recovered from the pond.
The exact reason behind Gaureesh’s decision remains unclear. Kundapur police are conducting further investigations.
