Moodbidri: Chain snatching incidents – Police arrest two accused

Moodbidri, Sep 22: Police have arrested two accused involved in chain snatching incidents targeting elderly women in Moodbidri on August 15 and near Moodumarnadu Basadi on September 2.

Two scooter-borne individuals allegedly snatched chains from Nirmala Pandit (70) in Moodbidri and Prema (82) near Moodumarnadu Basadi. The stolen chains weighed 24 grams and three sovereigns respectively.

One of the arrested suspects has been identified as Hasan Habeeb Hasan alias Chabbi alias Chembugudde Habbi (42), who is involved in 44 cases across various police stations. He has 15 arrest warrants issued against him for failure to attend court.

The other accused is Ummar Siyaf Chiya (29), a resident of Adyadi Jodumarga in Bantwal. He is also accused of attempted murder in a previous case registered at Bantwal police station.

The operation to arrest the accused was led by Moodbidri CI Sandesh P G, under the guidance of city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, DCP Siddhartha Goyal, DCP Dinesh Kumar, and ACP Srikant K.

    it is only because of efficient police system working under the iron hands of LOrd Siddaraya that these culprits are caught and even the planned communal disturbance during chauthi by the nagpur gulams is failed....Hail Beejaraya...
