Bengaluru, Sep 24: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against two individuals for their involvement in radicalising Muslim youth and terror funding, among other anti-national activities.

The accused have been identified as ISIS radicals Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, alias Taha, and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, alias Shazib. Both were previously chargesheeted by the NIA in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case.

According to an official statement from the NIA, the two men, residents of Shivamogga district, were actively engaged in radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable Muslim youths, including co-accused individuals in the case.

The NIA submitted its third supplementary charge sheet against the accused before a special court, bringing the total number of individuals chargesheeted in this case to ten.

Originally taken over by the NIA from the Karnataka police in November 2022, the case pertains to the activities of the proscribed terrorist organization Islamic State (IS/ISIS).

The statement also highlighted that the accused were involved in violent acts such as arson, trial explosions, and the burning of the Indian national flag, in addition to their roles in radicalization, recruitment, and terror funding as part of an IS conspiracy aimed at spreading terror and destabilizing the nation.

Investigations into the case, which was initially filed in September 2022 by state police, are ongoing.
