Mangaluru: Man arrested for murder over mobile phone dispute

Mangaluru, Sep 26: In connection with the murder of Basavaraj Vaddar alias Mudukappa (39), a native of Bagalkote, over a mobile-related issue, the accused Dharmaraj Suvarna has been arrested.

The incident occurred near the seashore behind Bobbarya Daivasthana in Thota Bengre, under the jurisdiction of Panambur Police Station. Hanumanth Durugappa Vaddar filed a complaint with the Panambur Police Station regarding the murder. Based on credible information, the police arrested the accused Dharmaraj Suvarna (50).

The arrest took place in the Chompal Police Station area of Kozhikode, Kerala, during a nighttime operation by Panambur police. The accused is known to work in the fishing industry and had been residing in Tota Bengre.

According to reports, Dharmaraj Suvarna and the deceased Basavaraj Vaddar had known each other for some time. Recently, Dharmaraj purchased a new mobile phone, which Basavaraj borrowed but damaged without returning it. This led to a heated argument between the two. The altercation escalated, and in a fit of rage, Dharmaraj allegedly struck Basavaraj with a wooden log, resulting in his death.

Under the guidance of city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal IPS, the investigation team successfully solved the case.
