Udupi, Sep 27: A Hebri MESCOM lineman swam 70 feet across a rivulet to replace a broken electricity line and restore power to a home. The act of bravery by Pramod has been widely appreciated by the public.
Several days had passed since the electricity line, which runs through the middle of the Moorusaalu rivulet in Uppala under Shivapura village, had broken. Heavy rains delayed the repair work, causing significant inconvenience to the nearby villagers.
Pramod, a Mescom employee from Channagiri in Davanagere, along with part-time helper Sudhir, swam across the rivulet and repaired the damaged line. While swimming, Pramod tied a rope to one end of the severed wire and reconnected it upon reaching the other side, successfully restoring power to the area.
Villagers and the general public praised Pramod’s courage in restoring electricity to a community that had been without power for several days.
