Kundapur, Sep 30: Despite the inconvenience caused to the public by the road humps on the main road within the town municipality limits, the municipality has yet to take any corrective action. People's representatives seem indifferent, and the new chief officer of the municipality appears to be taking time to address the issue.

In response, the Kundapur Taluk Working Journalists’ Association organized a protest near Kundapur Taluk Hospital, bringing the matter to the attention of the municipality's chief officer and the taluk administration.

Dalit leader Udaya Kumar Tallur said, “The town municipality must take immediate steps to maintain the road humps properly. Action should be taken against the chief officer for failing to address the damaged humps. If accidents occur due to these poorly maintained humps, the municipality will be held accountable. If swift action is not taken, we will stage a stronger protest in the coming days.”

Nagaraja Rayappanamata, president of the Kundapur Taluk Working Journalists’ Association, added, “During the chariot festival, the road humps were removed and the areas dug up. Even after a long time, they remain unrepaired. Despite many reports highlighting the issue, no results have been seen. The municipality must now act immediately.”

Responding to the protesters, Ananda, the chief officer of the town municipality, clarified, "A decision has already been made to address the issue. However, delays are occurring due to the election code of conduct currently in effect."

Members of the Working Journalists’ Association, three auto-rickshaw unions, the Kundapur Photographers’ Association, and the public participated in the protest. Town municipality member Girish G K was also present.
