Assam CM says 'sleepless nights for K'taka' amid Priyank Kharge's semiconductor ecosystem concerns

Guwahati, Oct 1 (IANS): Hitting out at Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge for questioning Assam's ecosystem for semiconductor plants, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said his state has given sleepless nights to the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government over the thoughts of Assam getting a semiconductor manufacturing facility.

"Nobody could anticipate how a small state like Assam could get a semiconductor manufacturing hub in the country. This has given sleepless nights to the Congress-ruled Karnataka government. The southern state on every index is ahead of Assam; however, now they are talking about us. This has given me immense pleasure," Sarma said.

He further asserted that Assam will not stop here, and the state will touch the sky in terms of development.

"We will not stop only at the semiconductor plant. Assam will touch the sky in the next few years. It will not require a long time when our state will be in the front row in the whole nation," CM Sarma said.

He also took a swipe at Congress leaders in the state by saying: "I want to advise the opposition leaders to feel proud about their own state."

Meanwhile, the people in the Jagiroad Assembly constituency took out a protest rally on Tuesday demanding an unconditional apology from Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge.

Notably, the semiconductor manufacturing unit is coming up in Jagiroad which is the home constituency of Assam Cabinet Minister, Pijush Hazarika.

"Priyank Kharge, who is the son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge humiliated the people of Assam by saying that we do not have an ecosystem for having a semiconductor manufacturing unit. This is a huge insult for our people. They should issue an immediate apology to the Assamese people," Hazarika said.

To recall, Priyank Kharge had posted on his social media: "Five semicon manufacturing units, four are in Gujarat, and one is in Assam, but they don't have an ecosystem of skills there. They don't have an ecosystem of research there. They don't have an ecosystem of incubation. They don't have a system of ecosystem of innovations… when 70 per cent of the chip designing talent lies in Karnataka, I don't understand why the government wants to push to another state by using political clout. That is unfair."

Assam CM Sarma is one who moved from Congress to BJP, for the greed of power. Assam is still the same and getting worse, in his leadership. Now, he can only do the politics of hate. So, last one to trust. Karnataka, is better off 100times than Assam, in many parameters. Also it is good to note that current congress govt is putting a lot of efforts to ease the traffic and water issues, in and around bangalore. If Assam CM is sleepless, maybe he is fearing losing his chair.

Country is taken for a big ride on semiconductors Manufacturing.. A highly complex product. Sub micron level accuracy A huge supply chain management..involving international companies.. huge water requirements of extremely high purity .. Today the semi conductor chip manufacturing is extremely complex to say the least .. (Taiwan a major manufacturing country .. a huge technically competent work force Chip engineers.. available for them ..) China struggling despite all capabilities on manufacturing to make today’s high end chips .. In India many will be fly by night operators taking advantage of huge subsidies.. land. Funding etc etc and idle boasts. Propaganda. .. bombastic politics

If top skills came to Karnataka/Bangalore looking for opportunities, it can go elsewhere also. In any case, nowhere in India we have true skills & ecosystem needed for actual semiconductor manufacturing. The ones being conceived in Gujarat and Assam are low end ones. If Karnataka wants to be in the race, it better get itself ready to provide (a) 24h uninterrupted power supply - better get your power generation in surplus. (b) uninterrupted high purity (millipore) water supply 24h. This plant will also need 24h power supply and last but not least, (c) semiconductor plants spit out some of the dangerous affluents and chemicals, identify which part of Karnataka you would want to put to waste especially considering our abysmal waste management capabilities.

They don’t have an unplanned, water deprived, chaotic mess like Bengaluru!!!!! Karnataka Politicians destroyed the beautiful Garden , city now they should remain quiet and allow other states to progress scientifically .

Before 2014, there was only one railway station in India and it had just one tea shop. BJP has built everything.”😂🤣
