Mangaluru: Five arrested for MDMA trafficking, Rs 4.25 lac worth items seized

Mangaluru, Oct 2: In a major drug bust, Mangaluru CCB police arrested five individuals involved in the sale and transportation of the banned substance MDMA. The operation led to the seizure of 70 grams of MDMA.

The arrested individuals are identified as Abdul Shakir (24) from Tippu Nagar, Shivamogga; Hassan Ashir (34) from BS Nagar, Manjeshwar, Udyavar; Riyaz AK (31) from Peringam, Payyanur, Kannur; Mohammed Naushad (22) from Kedambadi House, Varkadi Pavoor, Kasargod; and Yasin Imraj alias Imbu (35) from GHS Road, Manjeshwar, Kasargod.

Acting on a tip-off that the suspects were selling MDMA to the public and students in Mangaluru city, the CCB police conducted a raid near Nettillapadavu in the Konaje police station limits. During the operation, they confiscated 70 grams of MDMA worth Rs 3,50,000, five mobile phones, Rs 1,460 in cash, and a digital weighing scale. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 4,25,500.

Cases have been registered against the accused at Konaje police station. Among the arrested, Hassan Ashir has a prior record of assault and drug-related offenses in Manjeshwar, Kasargod. Yasin Imraj also faces two previous cases linked to drug trafficking, one in Manjeshwar and another in Hebbal, Bengaluru.

The operation was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with inspector Shyam Sundar HM, PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, and other police personnel participating in the raid.
