Historic brass band competition ‘Pepere Pepe Dum’ heats up: Five teams advance to finals

Mangaluru, Oct 3: The suspense finally lifted as Team Ami ani Amchim, organizers of the prestigious Pepere Pepe Dum brass band competition, announced the five teams advancing to the finals. This highly anticipated revelation was made during a special episode aired on Daijiworld TV.

The teams confirmed to compete in the finals are Omzoorche Dinde Manay, Rang Tarang Madanthyar, Kelraiche Kazulle, Neermarchim Taram, and Dum Dum Bajpe. The finals are scheduled to take place on November 9-10 at the Kelarai church ground.

Fr Silvester D'Costa, parish priest of Kelarai Church; Fr James, vicar forane of the city deanery; Vincent Cutinha, MD of Proovit Feeds; Ronald Silvan D'Souza, managing director of Leksa Lighting; and Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld media, were present to announce the qualifiers.

Renowned experts namely music maestro Alwyn Noronha Bajpe, popular compere Manu Bantwal, and noted choreographer Avil D'Cruz formed the judging panel for the preliminary round. The judges meticulously evaluated each team's live performance and video recordings.

The winning team will receive a coveted cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, while the remaining finalists will each receive Rs 20,000. Additionally, the organizers announced exciting prizes for viewers tuning in live on television and for the live audience attending the finals.

Denis D'Silva, Santhosh D'Costa, Arun Ajekar, Roshan Rodrigues, and other members of the dedicated organizing committee were present during the announcement.

The Pepere Pepe Dum brass band competition promises electrifying performances, and the finals are expected to draw large crowds to Kelarai church ground.
