Puttur: St Philomena College conducts awareness programme on MGNREGS

Media Release

Puttur, Oct 4: In an effort to raise awareness about the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the post graduate department of Social Work and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of St Philomena Autonomous College organized a comprehensive outreach programme at Kedambady Gram Panchayat on Monday.

The programme, part of the adopted village project college, saw active participation from local leaders and residents. Panchayat development officer Ajith G K, vice president Jayalakshmi B, Panchayat members Praveen Shetty and Ratan Rai, along with administrative staff, faculty from St Philomena College, and the NSS volunteers were present for the event.

Following the awareness session, the participants, including the volunteers and local leaders, took to the streets, visiting homes and shops in the town. This door-to-door campaign aimed to identify eligible beneficiaries of the MGNREGS and provide them with vital information regarding the types of individual works they could undertake under the scheme, as well as the grants available for such activities.

The awareness drive was organized under the coordination of Praveen D, the coordinator of adoption village project St Philomena College, who led the efforts to ensure that residents of Kedambadi Gram Panchayat were well-informed about the opportunities provided by the MGNREGS.
