Mangaluru, Oct 7: The mortal remains of Mumtaz Ali, brother of former MLA Moideen Bawa and chairman of Misbah Group of Educational Institutions, were found in the Phalguni river near Kulur after an extensive search operation.

The case has taken a dramatic turn with the filing of an FIR against six individuals, including a woman. The accused allegedly blackmailed Ali by falsely claiming he had an illicit relationship with the woman. It is reported that the six extorted Rs 50 lac from Ali and were demanding an additional Rs 50 lac.

The FIR, based on a complaint filed by Ali’s brother, accuses the six individuals of instigating Ali to commit suicide through blackmail and false propaganda.

Mumtaz Ali reportedly left his home at 3 am on Sunday, heading towards Suratkal. His car collided with a private bus near MCF, but he apologized to the bus driver and conductor for the mishap. He then made a U-turn near Panambur circle and drove back towards Kulur bridge.

It has been revealed that Ali left a voice message in Byari, naming a person who had been mentally harassing him. The message, sent to his daughter and a friend, indicated that he was heading towards his end.

Sad end to a great achiever... Probably he could have faced it boldly... Mistakes happen as we are all human... Taking confident strides against intimidation and extortion at times becomes too daunting on an individual... He was unlucky not to have a close confidant who could instill courage within him... RIP to the departed soul...

Whenever such sad incidents happens, it is just a reminder for us. Let our youths learn a lesson from this. No matter who u are, wat position u are in society, ultimately there will be challenges in life. One should strive to have a strong belief and not give into any pitfalls or temporary pleasure. Think of family always to whom u are duty bound. Strive towards simple living. May Allah forgive all his sins from the good service he has done to the poor in our community.
