Udupi: College student dies in car-bike accident in Indrali

Udupi, Oct 8: A tragic accident occurred near MGM College, Kunijibettu, Udupi, where a car collided with a bike, leading to the death of the rider, on October 7.

The deceased has been identified as Veeraj (18), a resident of Hiriyadka and an undergraduate student at Thenkanidiyoor College. The accident took place on the Udupi-Manipal national highway 169A, where the ongoing construction work on the Indrali railway bridge has temporarily altered traffic flow. Vehicular traffic from Udupi has been diverted towards Manipal, leading to the temporary closure of one route.

The accident occurred when a car traveling from Manipal to Udupi collided with Veeraj’s bike, which was heading from Udupi to Manipal. The impact caused Veeraj to fall onto the road along with his bike, sustaining severe injuries. He was rushed to Udupi District Government Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way, according to police reports.

A case has been registered at the Udupi traffic police station for further investigation.
