Bengaluru, Oct 12: Lokayukta SIT ADGP M Chandrashekar has filed a complaint at the Sanjaynagar police station, accusing Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, JD(S) youth wing state president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and party worker Suresh Babu of issuing threats and making false allegations.
Chandrashekar, who heads the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for mining-related cases, stated that he had taken up an inquiry into a 2014 case involving Kumaraswamy. During the investigation, he claimed to have found additional evidence and sought approval from the Governor to pursue legal action. Following this, Kumaraswamy, in a press meet, allegedly made baseless accusations and threatened Chandrashekar, along with Nikhil and Suresh Babu.
In his complaint, Chandrashekar alleged that the trio threatened to have him transferred to another state and falsely accused him of obtaining a fake health certificate. The police have registered a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) based on the complaint.
Chandrashekar also discussed the matter with Karnataka home minister G Parameshwar at the latter's residence in Sadashivanagar before filing the complaint. He mentioned that the Lokayukta police are currently investigating cases related to the Gangenahalli denotification and MUDA, and that he is considering probing officials from the Governor’s office as well.
Responding to the allegations made by HD Kumaraswamy, Chandrashekar clarified at Vidhana Soudha that he had written a letter to address the accusations, denying involvement in any real estate deals. He referred to the claims as false and politically motivated.
Earlier, in a sharp retort to the accusations by HDK, Chandrashekar had quoted English philosopher George Bernard Shaw, saying, "Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it," in reference to Kumaraswamy’s remarks. This exchange has escalated tensions between the two, with both sides trading barbs over the ongoing investigations.
